Get to Know John ... A Few Random Questions Not About Work
As a parent I am of course primarily an unpaid taxi driver.
When they allow me a shift off I am into Photography in a big way. I take it very seriously and I even have a studio in Houghton where I offer portraits.
Although I’ve always enjoyed playing sport I was never really one to watch, I was always far too easily bored and distracted.
That was until I discovered Rugby League, for a time I was a big fan of Gateshead Thunder. I am from Gateshead originally.
After they got into off the pitch difficulty and were rebranded as Newcastle Thunder I stopped specifically following them.
Football affiliation is a big thing here in the North East and though I’m not really one to watch football, as a child I was brought up in a Sunderland supporting house. Went to a few games at Roker when I was young so that I’m not really a football fan at all I always felt an ‘affiliation’ of sorts and for a weird reason I can’t explain when Gateshead Thunder became Newcastle Thunder my emotional connection was severed. It’s an odd one I know but I’ve spoken to several other people who felt exactly the same.
Autumn without a doubt.
As a photographer the best of the days light is available at ‘sociable hours’.
As a parent and general human the temperature is generally warm enough to allow for outdoor adventures with the kids without the heat making it unbearable.
I don’t do well in the heat!
I have a very eclectic taste and go through stages. As I write this I am really enjoying modern country music. Particularly, Morgan Wade, Chris Stapleton, Luke Coombs, Maren Morris, Parker McCollum etc.
But I always go back to Bruce Springsteen, the unwavering musical influence in my life since I was about 14 years old. I’m also becoming a big fan of Sam Fender, he’s our home grown Springsteen of the modern era, no doubt, I just hope he enjoys the same longevity.
This Side of Paradise by F Scott Fitzgerald.
Firstly it’s an enjoyable read but as you get older you can take different things from the story given your own perspective.
It’s a fantastic study of the human condition, youth and social dynamics. Even though it is set quite sometime ago in another country it still feels very relevant.
